What is an EORI number?
The identification number for everyone who deals with customs authorities in the EU.
Meaning
EORI stands for Economic Operators Registration and Identification. Customs authorities in all EU member states use the number to identify economic operators that import, export or move goods in transit.
When do you need it?
- For every customs declaration (import and export)
- For transit procedures and temporary storage
- When you apply for customs decisions and authorisations
- As a carrier or forwarder lodging declarations or entry summary declarations
What does a Slovenian number look like?
For economic operators established in Slovenia the EORI number is the eight-digit Slovenian tax number with the prefix SI. They do not have to apply for it. Companies established outside the EU receive their number from FURS upon registration; it also starts with SI.
Validity
The number is valid throughout the EU and is assigned once. A company can only hold one EORI number. You can check any number in the EU register: https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/dds2/eos/eori_validation.jsp
